Zach continues to remain stable today after a rough day yesterday. Yesterday morning while on his RotoProne bed the oscillator which controls his breathing and helps to better his lungs turned off. Thanks to the quick response time of the nurses and the respiratory staff this problem was corrected immediately. At about 6:30p last night the nurse came in for a consent for another tube in his lung. They felt by doing this it would help to get more of the bacteria out of his lungs.
This morning we walked in to find Zach getting his hair washed by the nurses. This is not the conventional way of water and shampoo but of some kind of spray and water combed through his hair. If he were able to see himself and the way his hair was combed and styled he would be mad. She also shaved his face which was more facial hair than I think he has ever had. At 1:00p we turned on the Panthers game in Zach's room.
All and all today has been good. Mom and I like to say "No news is good news" at this time. When we looked at his chest x-rays today the right lung appeared to be improving, the white blood cells are going down, and the antibiotics are doing their job.
We are optimistic about the positive improvements. Thanks for all of your support and prayers.

Dear Zach, Joanne and Angela,
Yesterday I attended a special Mass where the priest was a wonderful women. We all prayed a special prayer for Zach. The service is held in the Quaker Meeting House in Yarmouth. The congregation is composed of a wonderful group of very devout people who I know God listens to their prayers.
Joanne, I have walked in your moccasins and know the power of prayer. I have asked all who prayed for my son, to now pray for Zach.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Jean Perkins
Costa Rica is waiting for Zach. The whole continent of Latin America is...I'm confident that he will soon overcome this obstacle and hold the coolest conversation in Spanish he ever had, with me!

Hey, my name is Skip Smith... i don't know Zach personally but i was there when he fell. i was riding home from work on my bike. i jumped off to see if he was OK. Zach's housemate (i think) had already called the paramedics, so we were just trying to monitor him until the ambulance came... the police didn't need my statement after arriving so i was just in the way and left after giving my condolences to Zach's friend.. anyways, i have really been thinking about him and hoping he was OK.. he seems like a tough dude, i hope he makes a full recovery and my thoughts are with the family and friends! epicskip@gmail.com if you need anything!
