Today started out early. 3 a.m. to be exact. It was at that time that we received a phone call asking for consent for a bronc and a lavage. This is where they go in to Zach's lungs and clean them out as best they can. Fortunately Zach's ICP's (Intra-Cranial Pressures) have remained low.
At 9 a.m. we went for our visit as usual to find that the RotoProne bed that had been spinning him for days had broke but would be fixed shortly. (See picture to Left) It was good to finally see his face.
He has been put on three new antibiotics with the intention to battle his right lung consolidation (ARDS).
Highlight of the day- ICP monitor removed from Zach's head. He remains on an oscillator, an advanced respirator. CMC was the first hospital to use this machine on adults.
Mom says please continue to pray/chant as today is a crucial day.

Holy crap, that bed looks positively sci-fi! A bit like the "iron lung" used in the '40s when there was a widespread outbreak of polio.
This blog is genius and we members deeply appreciate it!
Love to you, Joanne, and Angela.

Dear Joanne and Angela,
I was so glad to see the both of you and Zach last week. I am thinking of you all the time. At Temple Friday night, I said Zach's name when they asked if anyone needed special healing prayers. We are all with you. Love, MarciaL
